Get Better Sleep With Inspire Therapy

Do you struggle with obstructive sleep apnea, but can’t use or benefit from CPAP? At ENT Associates in Clearwater, we have an effective, innovative alternative for you to consider: Inspire! Our physicians are some of the only providers in the area to offer this exciting solution.

Read on to learn more about Inspire therapy and how it can transform your quality of sleep.

How Does Inspire Treat Obstructive Sleep Apnea?

Obstructive sleep apnea, or OSA, involves an upper airway blockage that affects your ability to breathe during sleep. 18 million Americans have OSA, and many of them achieve relief with a continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) machine. However, CPAP isn’t suitable for everyone.

Inspire is a small, FDA-approved implantable device that stabilizes the throat, monitors your breathing, and stimulates the upper airway while you sleep. More specifically, it gently stimulates the hypoglossal nerve, which keeps the tongue from blocking the airway, allowing you to breathe continuously.

The Inspire device is implanted along the right side of the neck and chest wall. This requires a surgical procedure under general anesthesia that lasts around two to three hours. Four weeks after the procedure, your physician activates the device with a small remote, causing the device to turn on at night and turn off in the morning upon waking up.

In clinical studies, with Inspire:

  • 90% of bed partners report no snoring or soft snoring
  • Individuals experienced a 79% reduction in sleep apnea events
  • 94% of people were satisfied with their results
  • 96% of people say Inspire is better than CPAP and would recommend it to others

Who Should Consider Inspire for Better Sleep?

Inspire could be the right choice for you if:

  • You’ve been diagnosed with moderate to severe OSA
  • You can’t use or benefit from CPAP (due to poor sleep, insomnia, circadian disorders, anxiety, etc.)
  • You’re not considered obese
